A Cut Above Salon recently had a high profile complaint by a lady who claimed that her hair was ruined and she was not able to find a solution to her problem, hence she created a boycott page. I think many have posted from the perspective of clients and I have not really seen any hairdresser comment on this issue. I believe it is rather sensitive and many people just do not want to get involved.
From a hairdresser’s perspective, I think it is our responsibility to advise and really to rebond or not rebond your hair it is ultimately the client’s choice. Just like when you are being told that you have cancer, a doctor can only advise what’s best, but to go through with treatments or leave is as it is, it is your choice. So why are you blaming someone else for a choice you made? For a service you have asked for and paid for willingly?
The rude comments were uncalled for and really shouldn’t happen. But when you have an issue and you would like to seek for solution, why would you create a page that says “Boycott”? The word boycott does not really sound like an attempt to solve your problem here. So are you trying to tell people that “I am unhappy and let’s boycott because I say so?”. You don’t solve issues by beginning with negativity. (In this case, boycott).
I think there are so many details to the whole conversation that only you and your stylist would know. If you praise your stylist, then you should mean that he handled your situation well. So where is the problem really?
I do understand that when it comes to communication, it is unavoidable that sometimes there may be misunderstandings. But you have chosen to solve your issue by a negative move by boycotting, so it does feel like you are trying to attract attention more than solving your issue.
Whatever written here really is what a hairdresser like me would feel and think. It does feel rather unfair to a hairdresser when issues like this gets highlighted in the media, as though I murdered someone - or in this case someone’s hair. If refund is what you are going for then why the whole trouble? These are my own opinion and any comments good or bad are welcomed.
